PUNJAB EFFLUENT TREATMENT SOCIETY FOR TANNERIES (PETS)

Jalandhar City is the district Head Quarters of District Jalandhar in the State of Punjab. The City is located at about 140 km from State Capital, Chandigarh. The city is well connected by rail and road network. The nearest airport is Adampur, located at about 30 km from the City. The City is hub of sports goods, furniture besides Leather Industry.

Jalandhar is the fourth most important leather cluster in India. There are about 59 tanneries located in Leather Complex, Jalandhar. Most of the tanneries process from raw hides to finished leather. The estimated production in terms of raw hides and skins is about 50,000 tonnes per annum in all the total 59 tanneries.



Punjab Effluent Treatment Society for Tanneries (PETS):

This SPV in the name and style of Punjab Effluent Treatment Society for Tanneries (PETS) was formed in the year 2006. All tanneries in this Leather Complex are connected to a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) operated by this SPV-Punjab Effluent Treatment Society for Tanneries (PETS). The treatment capacity of CETP is 5 MLD. The trade effluent discharges by the tanneries are further carried to CETP through effluent conveyance open channels/drains. The length of these conveyance channels is 7.2 km. The area allocated/under the possession of SPV for the establishment of CETP is 9.8 acres.
